Systems Consultant (1998 – 2000)
Over a two year period Mr Neville provided technical and applications support & direction on site for ADT Fire & Security. An American company and relatively new in the UK market, ADT are in a phase of business acquisition - Mr Neville successfully oversaw the technical aspects of the acquisition of eight businesses as well as ensuring financial reconciliation and data integrity. This involved liaison with third parties on a business and technical level.
He was instrumental in an exercise resulting in a database efficiency increase in excess of 500%. To do so involved a re-write of the underlying access methods, transparently to the application.
Mr Neville was involved in the appraisal of Y2K compliance tools and techniques. He performed the Y2K compliance exercise whilst successfully migrating the 500+ user system from Warrington to Camberley. This involved the transfer of the operating environment, application software, data and network infrastructure in a staged manner.
Mr Neville performed the data migration from the Data General COBOL legacy system to the new AS/400 environment front-ended by a VB application and a DB2 and JD Edwards back-end. This involved complex data selection, mapping and data transfer to the new system plus the subsequent data integrity checks.
Working closely with the Sales & Marketing and the Finance departments, Mr Neville performed data extracts and detailed reporting for various projects. He ensured that the systems were maintained and operated by the 3rd Party FM supplier and kept the systems staff appraised of programming & operations technique. He provided support, did research and gave direction to various groups within the IT department. He was called upon to trouble-shoot hardware, software, application and network problems. His brief included the evaluation, selection and installation of software tools and techniques.
